St. Louis & Chicago

On Wednesday, we headed out for our adult vacation with Joel and Mckenzie. Joel turned 30 back in Jan and his birthday present was a trip to Wrigley Field! We decided to visit St. Louis on our way to Chicago to break up our travel time a bit. We left Wednesday afternoon and headed to St. Louis. When we arrived, the hotel I had booked through priceline was in the ghetto!!! We all got a good laugh out of it (only because they gave us a full refund) and found another place to stay! Then we had some dinner and found ourselves at a bowling alley near the hotel...

Thursday morning we got up and headed to tour the arch and brewery...
The St. Louis Gateway Arch is 630 feet in the air. There are tiny capsule-like elevators that take you to the top for a magnificent view of the city.

The view of the Cardinal's stadium from the arch.

After the arch we headed to the Budwiser Brewery for a tour.
(Will found his brick on the building)
The Clydesdales....
Some snap shots from the tour...

Every building on the campus has very elegant decor.
These pipes suspended in the air are running all over the campus, and carry finished beer products for packaging.

 Fun facts...

After our tours we headed up 55 to Chicago. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Tons of farm land, wind mills, ect. We also got to see an amazing storm coming across which brought a cold front and our excellent weather for the weekend....

We arrived in Chicago late Thursday night and headed to Giordanos for some deep dish pizza. The wait was long, but well worth it! The food was AMAZING!
Friday was our only "full" day to site-see  so we packed as much in as we possibly could without feeling too terribly rushed. We had tickets for the double decker bus tour, which allowed us to see most of the city while getting a history from the tour guide.

Mckenzie and I did a little shopping (of course)...
The Lego Store
These are made out of tiny little legos...

Saturday we went to Wrigley field for a Cubs vs. Cardinal game at 1230. The weather was perfect all weekend (about 85 and windy) and our seats at the game were in the shade. It was amazing!!! Wrigley field still has the original score board and is known for keeping with a traditional ballgame experience. There were about 40,000 people at the game and 100,000 on our subway car! Haha. The Cubs, Joel's team, won by a point. This was fine since it was his birthday and all...It was sorta hard not to cheer for
the cubs because the spirit was contagious!

Sunday morning we got up early and headed home. While we all had a blast....that was a LONG time to be away from my baby! I was ready to get my hands on her!
