Tonight as I sat and caught up on the many blogs that I try to read daily, Kate Krull's blog really caught my heart. If you look to the left under my profile her blog link is
Two Three Kids, a Minivan, and a Mortgage. Her daughter Lucy has cancer. She is currently at St. Jude undergoing chemo and has already been through radiation and surgery. This particular post was from August 1 titled "Faith and the lack there of." I was moved to tears from this post, as I am after many of them. I was particularly amazed after reading this post about her list of thanksgivings. I can't imagine even being able to come up with a list of thanksgiving while having a baby suffering like Lucy is. All I can think of is a list of needs and wants. After having my first child right about the time that Lucy was diagnosed with cancer, I cannot imagine what this family is going through. Many people from the community as well as complete strangers have been captivated by Lucy's story! She is an amazing little girl, whom I had the honor of babysitting many times when I was younger along with her older sister Ella (Jack, aka Sonni's boyfriend, wasn't around yet). Kate has done an amazing job with displaying her feelings and emotions on a very real level through her blog. She is an amazing writer and has really drawn me in with the details of her journey. She is very up front about the raw emotions that have come along with her experiences. It also makes me think of her husband Erik. While he does not have an outlet such as a blog for his emotions, he is daily in my prayers. Every great family is built upon a solid foundation and there is no doubt in my mind that he is the foundation for his family now more than ever. This particular post, as many of them do, made me stop and think about how thankful I am for my daughter and her health. Again, I cannot imagine what this family is going through and they are daily in my prayers. Kate is an amazing writer and this blog will captivate your heart. I am constantly amazed at her strength as a friend, a mother, a wife, and a christian. I aspire to have the faith and strength that she has, faith and strength in God that can move mountains.
On a lighter note, tonight as Will was getting his boat ready for fishing tomorrow, there was a moth that had camouflaged itself to match the camo of the boat. It was pretty amazing. I don't think the picture does it justice. This is a perfect example of how amazing God's creations are! This moth did an amazing job of making his body blend in with the boat.
Also, here is a picture Anna sent me of Pop and Sonni on the tractor this afternoon.

I am constantly amazed and thankful at how much everyone loves this little girl. Especially her grands and great-grands! Even Ms. Baker (the curtain lady) is coming over tomorrow to see Sonni! Now, I will say that she has been making our curtains so long she could very well be considered family, and she can't wait to meet Sonni! She made three special trips to my house just to get the curtains right for Sonni's room.
Anna Catherine will be fourteen this Saturday! It is hard to believe that she is already fourteen and that she will be starting high school this year! Time is really starting to FLY...I mean literally FLY! I am thankful to have such a wonderful little sister who loves my child and family and whom I love very much. I am constantly amazed at the christian woman she is becoming. I hope that she has an amazing next four years! Enjoy! It's the time of your life!
